I would like to thank Mr. William Johnson for helping me support my study abroad opportunity with your scholarship. Your funding is indispensable for my study abroad, as well as the others who’ve received the scholarship. I’m born and raised here in Hawaii and found myself interested in business after taking multiple business classes at Moanalua High School. Since being accepted into Shidler, I’ve completed the major requirements for Finance and Management Information Systems, with a career interest in data analytics and security. I chose for my study abroad to be in Florence, as I have a limited knowledge of Europe. Being in Hawaii and growing up in an Asian household, I’ve traveled to Asia several times, so my knowledge of everyday life and business in Asia much for vast than my experience in Europe. My first out of country experience was actually in Europe, in which I went to London and Paris, but I was 10 at the time and didn’t appreciate everything that came with being abroad. This time around, I wanted to go somewhere I’ve never been before to so I could fully embrace the culture and see everything for the first time. As a Finance major and having been to Asia, I’m interested to see how business is conducted in Florence because the euro is stronger than the dollar, and all the currencies in Asia are weaker than the dollar. This will allow me to not only compare business between Europe and the U.S., but between Europe and Asia as well. The courses I’ll be taking in Florence will assist me with this, with most of my classes having a focus in Italian business. I want to thank Mr. William Johnson again for not only giving me this opportunity to study abroad, but for all those you have helped as well. You’ve given all of us a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity most only hope to have. I will remember this opportunity you’ve given me long after I graduate and enter the workforce. I can only wish I can get to the point where you are and help students with the same impact you’ve had on us. |
